As part of their topic on WWII, Walnut Class visited the Imperial War Museum, London. We were amazed by some of the artefacts on show in the museum. We couldn’t believe the size of the V2 Rocket and to see a Spitfire hanging from the ceiling. We also saw tanks, part of a Lancaster Bomber and a “Little Ship” that was used in the Dunkirk Evacuation.
We had a learning session at the Museum and learnt about how a real family’s lives were affected by the war. We were able to handle real WW2 artefacts including evacuation suitcases, gas masks and stirrup pumps. Despite the journey taking slightly longer than expected (due to traffic), we all thought the trip was brilliant and really helped with our understanding of our topic. We would like to say a big thank you to the parents that helped us with our trip.
