It’s safe to say that the first Parklands whole school spelling bee was a huge success! Firstly, a huge congratulations is in order to the large number of children that took part in the preparations for this contest. Those who took part all showed a huge appetite for the learning of their spellings, but unfortunately there could be only one contestant from each class.

Once each of the nine champions had been discovered, the children went head-to-head in front of the whole school to compete for the prestigious Parklands Spelling Bee trophy, what a contest! The children battled it out in a last man standing scenario which left just two spellers standing in the final round, Nelly McFaul and Billy Netley-Harris. With nerves slowly building, and after an exceptional effort, Nelly unfortunately spelt her word incorrectly which meant Billy was the whole school champion.

We are all so pleased with the outstanding effort that the children have put into learning their spellings for the spelling bee and we cannot wait for the next one! Stay tuned for the next instalment of spelling bee drama.
