On Monday 5th March, Year 3 travelled back in time to Ancient Egypt as part of this term’s topic.

During the morning, the children took park in four Egyptian themed activities. Firstly, they each made a magnificent silhouette of an Egyptian landscape. In the second activity, they created dazzling Egyptian jewellery which some of them donned in the afternoon! Then, using papyrus paper, the children made their own personalised book marks. The last activity was mummifying tomatoes; the children scooped out the insides of the tomatoes and filled them with salt. We will be checking on them later in the year to see if they have been successfully preserved!

In the afternoon, we all learnt and performed a groovy dance to an 80’s classic, Walk Like an Egyptian, by the Bangles. We finished the day with an exciting cat walk where the children could strut their stuff and show off their fabulous costumes.

We would like to thank all of the parents for their fantastic efforts in dressing their children as it allowed them to really immerse themselves in every part of the day.

Egyptian day was a great success and enjoyed by all.
