Art

At Parklands we aim to develop the creativity of pupils. We engage pupils with the diversity and variety of art and design through history as well as exploring modern styles and practice.

We hope to inspire pupils to work creatively and pupils are challenged to explore their own creativity and use the examples of artists to inspire their own artwork. Pupils’ subject knowledge is developed as well as their skills and visual language to enable them to communicate their ideas. We teach them the skills to experiment, invent and create. There are focused art lessons but the subject is also embedded across the curriculum.

We enter art competitions and have twice won the ‘Friends of Chartres’ Art Competition in association with Pallant House Gallery. We use Chichester Harbour, West Dean College and a variety of other locations to inspire and motivate pupils.

Pupils are given the opportunity to experiment with a wide variety of media and we are lucky to have our own kiln for firing clay work.
