Art
At Parklands Community Primary School we are artists!
At Parklands School, we are artists with big imaginations! We foster a life-long love of art through a robust, creative, and engaging curriculum that encourages children to explore the vibrant world of art and become real artists! Using a variety of teaching methods, our core aim is to develop knowledge, skills, and understanding while providing opportunities to investigate, create, refine, and reflect. Our curriculum integrates the national framework into Four Fundamental Areas of art—observe and experience, plan in exciting ways, create and refine, and reflect and celebrate—ensuring children express themselves through diverse media and techniques. Each unit is carefully planned to cover these areas and culminates in showcasing their work, supported by galleries, trips, visits from local artists, and an annual art week. These are often woven into our Learning Quests to make the learning more meaningful. Children build skills progressively, explore a rich variety of artists and techniques, and engage in cross-curricular links for enriched learning. Through reflection, celebration, and exciting experiences, we aim to nurture creativity and confidence, leaving every child with a solid understanding of the artistic process.
